Bugnes

 

Ingredients


- 500 g flour
- 100 g butter
- 60 g caster sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1 liqueur glass of eau de vie or orange water 

 

Preparation


30 min - Stand: 2hrs - Cooking: 20 min
 
Mix the flour, butter, beaten eggs, sugar, salt and flavouring. Knead thoroughly.
Make a ball and leave to rest in a cool place. Flatten the dough until it is 1/2-cm thick. Cut into 10-cm by 4-cm strips. Cut a 5-cm slash in the middle of each strip. Thread one of the ends of the strip through the slash in order to make a knot.
Fry the bugnes in hot oil. Drain and sprinkle with icing sugar.
